Seville - the journey begins

My first day in Seville

Today, Sunday, was the day of my arrival in the most beautiful city of Seville which I will be calling home for the next few weeks to come. The day started with a briskly early however necessary awakening when my mother and I picked up fellow traveller Lisa at around half past five in the morning. We then went on a 2-hour drive to Munich, our first stop on our journey, whence we proceeded to fly to Seville.

Having arrived there our ways parted as both of us went on our first encounter with our host families. A first sense of panic when my host mother wouldn't answer my numerous attempts to get her to open the door for me were followed by a gentle welcome and an informative meal during which I discovered that my host dad shared my fascination for politics and history leading to the first of hopefully many very interesting conversations.

I spent the afternoon in the company of Lisa wandering the truly marvellous city centre of Seville, taking a first glance at monuments such as the Parque de María Luisa, the cathedral with the famous Giralda-tower and many more. In the evening I decided it was time to unpack my instrument, the trumpet which I had brought in order not to lose that lip feeling one needs as a brass-musician and went to a nearby park where I was able to delight the citizens of Seville with some proper Austrian music.

As I am writing this entry I am filled with joy and excitement for my first week working as a receptionist is due to begin. However more on that next time.

Mi primer día en Sevilla

He leído con mucho interés las entradas de los demás que ya habían ido a Sevilla, como Flo, Lisa D y Helena y por eso decidí a escribir una entrada sobre mi viaje a Sevilla también.

Resulta que mi amiga Lisa y yo nos levantamos muy temprano por la mañana para que no perdamos nuestro vuelo a Sevilla. Después de un viaje largo y duro fui a ver mi familia anfitriona por la primera vez, pero cuando querría entrar por la puerta principal ella no contesto y yo tuve miedo de que estaba frente de la casa equivocada. Afortunadamente ella abrió la puerta poco después y todo salió bien. ¡Que suerte! Mis padres anfitriones son muy amables, especialmente mi padre quién es interesado en la historia y la política como yo también.

Por la tarde fui a ver todo lo que hay que ver en Sevilla, pero solo pude echar un primer vistazo a los monumentos como la Giralda o el Real Alcázar. Espero que pueda visitarlos otra vez y verlos en más detalle. Por fin, aproximadamente a las nueve después de haber tomado la cena fui a tocar la trompeta en un parque cercano para que no pierda mi capacidad como músico durante mi estancia.

Total, que ha sido un día muy interesante, pero al mismo tiempo muy largo. Ahora espero con mucha excitación mi primera semana como recepcionista en España. Pero más sobre esto en mi próxima entrada.
