On Friday 11 October, the 29 participants of HAK1 Salzburg’s Erasmus+ project “HAK1 Works Abroad” put on a show, presenting their experiences of doing an internship in a foreign country to an audience of well over 100 students, teachers, parents and guests. The participants had spent their summer working for at least 4 weeks in the UK, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands and Spain in a wide range of organisations from start-ups to charities to multinational companies.
Stories were told, experiences shared, tips given and the baton for this highly successful project was passed on to the new 4th class who have the opportunity to work abroad, subsidised by the EU.
With so many stories in the press these days critical of the EU (think Brexit!), it is a joy to share what truly is a good news story of how Erasmus+ gives young people the opportunity to broaden their horizons, improve their foreign language skills, strengthen their people skills, apply the business knowledge taught in school to real-world situations and develop a “yes I can” attitude.
The event was uplifting, energetic, informative and fun. We look forward to next year’s project launching in the spring.
