El tiempo vuela. Después de 4 semanas en España, mañana vuelvo a Austria. He vivido tantas cosas y me he acostumbrado tanto a la vida en Barcelona que me cuesta un poco decir adiós.

 

¡El trabajo me ha gustado mucho! Volkswagen se esforzó mucho por mostrarme muchas cosas y darme una visión amplia de la empresa. Mis compañeros se tomaban mucho tiempo para explicarme las cosas y frecuentemente me dejaban ver su trabajo diario. Un colega incluso me llevó una vez a un concesionario en Barcelona y me enseñó las salas de venta y el taller así como me presentó a los compañeros de allí. Pero tengo que decir que sin un buen conocimiento del español, estas prácticas no habrían sido tan fáciles. Los compañeros siempre hablan en español, las reuniones son en español, las explicaciones son en español, el ordenador y los documentos de trabajo están en español, etc. Si no hablas muy bien el español aquí, será difícil. Afortunadamente, el idioma no fue un gran problema para mí :)

 

Y ahora sobre la vida en Barcelona: Barcelona es una ciudad muy variada. Incluso después de 4 semanas, todavía hay cosas nuevas que descubrir. Es sin duda una buena ciudad para hacer prácticas en el extranjero, porque aquí nunca te aburres. E incluso si te cansas de Barcelona, puedes explorar muchas ciudades y playas hermosas en los alrededores. Se tarda menos de 40 minutos en tren en llegar a Girona o Sitges, y los billetes de tren tampoco son caros. Pero también merece la pena ver Barcelona en sí misma y, sin duda, hay algo para todos los gustos.

 

Definitivamente he podido mejorar mucho mi español. En la empresa, todo el mundo sólo hablaba español (y a veces catalán), así que yo también sólo hablaba en español con mis compañeros. Pero no sólo aprendí español, sino también aprendí un poco de catalán. Dado que el catalán es también la lengua oficial en Cataluña, se oye mucho el catalán en público (p. ej. en metro), pero también ocasionalmente en el trabajo. O también en el teatro al que fuimos, el musical era en inglés, pero hubo una traducción al catalán proyectada en una pantalla. Así que podía leer mucho catalán en el teatro y así conocer un poco el idioma. He aquí algunas palabras importantes que se oyen casi cada día:

En general, disfruté mucho de esta experiencia en el extranjero y puedo recomendarla a todo el mundo. No sólo queda muy bien en el CV, sino que también fomenta el desarrollo personal. Estas prácticas de Erasmus son y serán una experiencia inolvidable que recordaré durante mucho tiempo.

But one thing I probably should let you know: without a very good knowledge of Spanish, this internship would certainly not have been so easy. The colleagues always speak in Spanish, the meetings are in Spanish, the explanations are in Spanish, the computer and the work documents are in Spanish, etc. If you don't speak Spanish very well here, it might be a bit difficult. Fortunately, the language was not a big problem for me :)

 

Now about life in Barcelona: Barcelona is a very varied city. Even after 4 weeks, there are still new things to discover. It's definitely a good city for an internship abroad, because you never really get bored here. And even if you get tired of Barcelona, you can explore many beautiful cities and beaches in the surrounding area. It takes less than 40 minutes by train to get to Girona or Sitges, and the train tickets aren't really expensive either. But Barcelona itself is also very worth seeing and it has definitely something in store for everyone.

 

I was also able to improve my Spanish a lot. At work, Spanish was the only language spoken, so I only spoke Spanish with my colleagues as well. But I didn't only learn Spanish, but also a little bit of Catalan. Since Catalan is also an official language in Catalonia, you hear a lot of Catalan in public (e.g. in the metro) but also occasionally at work. Or for instance in the theatre we went to, the musical was in English but there was a Catalan translation projected on a screen. So during the performance I could always read along in Catalan and thus get to know the language a bit. Here are a few important words that you hear almost all the time:

Overall, I really enjoyed this experience abroad and I can only recommend it to everyone. Not only does it look nice on your CV, but it also promotes your personal development. This Erasmus+ internship is and always will be an unforgettable experience that I will remember for a long time.
