My first week in Cork - Maria

Hi guys - welcome back:)

Arrival

My journey has finally started and the first week is already over. The agency was definitely right when they said that the time is going to fly by. However, the flights to Cork went pretty good, there was only a delay on the first flight to Frankfurt but that was not a problem because we had to wait 4h for our next flight anyway. The apartment was not clean when we arrived but we just quickly cleaned it and by now I really like our little apartment. The first few days felt really weird because it took me some time to process all the new impressions. It was simply love at first sight with the city Cork.

Work

My work placement "Paddywagon tours" is also amazing!! They even let me come on a tour to the Cliffs of Moher for free last Thursday. The tour guide had a very strong irish accent but I managed to understand him after a while. On this tour I even met a girl from Carinthia by coincidence who is also travelling with the Erasmus+ programme. On Tuesday I went sightseeing on my own for work because if I work for a tour company I should obviously know something about Cork.

Freetime

On Monday I bought an old cheap bike from the website DoneDeal (I can really recommend this page if you are searching for a cheap bike, it's like the irish "Willhaben"). The bike is not the newest but it does its job. The other days were quite relaxed. I went running a few times and also got in contact with "Shandon Boat Club" and rowed at their club on Saturday, which was really cool. Since Isi is a Marvel fan, we watched the new movie "Love and Thunder" in the cinema on Friday. Isi and I had luck with the weather, so we decided to visit Cobh after my rowing session. Such a beautiful city!! On Sunday we took a bus to Galway where we just relaxed all day long.

Wow - you are really making the most of it. Can’t believe you’ve gone rowing too! Enjoy!!
